HistoryShorts Studio

A personal tool for making and tracking short history videos.

HistoryShorts Studio is a private application that runs on one person's own computer. It is not a service, there is nothing to sign up for, and it has no users other than its author.

What it does

Drafts and checks scripts for short history videos, verifying every figure and quote against notes written in advance.
Finds public-domain and openly licensed images from museum and archive collections, and records their attribution.
Renders the finished videos locally.
Reads back the author's own YouTube statistics — views and audience retention — to see which videos hold attention and which lose it.

Why it asks for YouTube access

Only the last item above needs Google's permission. The application reads view counts and audience-retention curves for the author's own channels so that it can show which parts of a video people stop watching.

The access it requests is read-only. It cannot upload, edit, delete, or comment on anything, and it never asks for permission to.
